BioDesign's founder Kristi M. Park. PLA, ASLA worked with University of Washington students to create a poster featuring a sampling of indigenous plants of the PNW. The plants are labelled with their Lushootseed, scientific, and common names. A big thank you to the UW LA422 Advanced Planting Design and UW LA322 Intro to Planting Design student volunteers for their beautiful illustrations! It is our goal to foster the honoring of the cultural narratives of native plants by learning their original names and some of their uses. There are many more plants to translate and so much more to discover, but it's a start!
